Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Acute Medicine to join a dynamic and expanding team for an East Midlands Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care across the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Same Day Emergency Care (mSDEC), and supporting the Emergency Department (ED) team.
This is a key position designed to enhance acute care services and ensure patients receive timely and effective care in a transformed healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality clinical care across MAU, mSDEC, and ED in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
* Contribute to the expansion and redesign of emergency, urgent, and acute care services at our Client's East Midlands Hospital.
* Manage both elective and emergency acute care pathways for patients.
* Actively participate in clinical governance, research, and audit activities.
* Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including doctors and clinical practitioners.
* Deliver teaching and training to junior doctors, medical students, and other clinical staff.
* Participate in the hospital’s on-call and weekend rota (1:6).
* Contribute to service development and innovation to meet the evolving needs of the hospital and its patients.
Person Specification:
Essential Requirements:
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* MRCP
* Evidence of entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining CCT at the time of interview
* Clinical experience equivalent to UK CCT in General Internal Medicine
* Experience in Same Day Emergency Care and Acute Medicine
Desirable:
* CCT in Acute Internal Medicine
* Postgraduate thesis or higher medical qualifications relevant to acute care
