The Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing the production operations within the cosmetics manufacturing facility. This includes overseeing the production of cosmetics products, maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring the safety of production operations, and meeting the company’s production targets. The role involves strategic planning, staff management, and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Management:
o Monitor production to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality.
o Optimize resource usage (materials, labour, equipment) to minimize waste and reduce costs.
o Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and legal regulations.
o Coordinate with other departments (e.g., R&D, Quality Control, Marketing) to ensure smooth production flow.
o Assume overall responsibility for the site outside office hours.
2. Quality Control & Compliance:
o Oversee the quality control procedures, ensuring products meet all cosmetic industry standards and regulations.
o Perform routine inspections and audits of the production process to ensure consistency in product quality.
o Address any quality issues and implement corrective actions to maintain high standards.
o Lead and supervise production teams, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
o Provide training and guidance to staff on safe operating procedures and production best practices.
o Set performance goals for team members and conduct regular performance evaluations.
o Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.
3. Cost Control & Budgeting:
o Manage production costs and work within budgetary constraints.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and production efficiency.
o Analyse production data and trends to forecast future needs and adjust production accordingly.
4. Maintenance & Equipment Management:
o Ensure all machinery and production equipment are properly maintained and functioning optimally.
o Coordinate with the maintenance team for repairs and preventive maintenance.
o Implement lean manufacturing practices and encourage innovation to improve production processes.
o Lead efforts to increase productivity, reduce downtime, and minimize defects.
o Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements that can enhance production.
Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or related field is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the manufacturing industry.
* Leadership skills with experience managing and motivating a diverse team.
* Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and multitasking abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in using production management software and other tools.
* Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma is preferred.
* Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred.
* Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
