Senior Buyer - Capex & Lifecycle – Milton Keynes
Salary: £50,000 - £56,000 per annum DOE
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (hybrid working available)
In this role, you are responsible for maximizing value through Procurement by strategically managing the UK supplier spend and identifying opportunities that drive sustainable improvement in cost, quality, service, and innovation.
The role supports 5 PFI contracts across the UK with primary category responsibility being Capex & Life Cycle. Support may also be required on other categories such as MRO, Business Services, Fleet, Energy, and Facilities.
Minimum Requirements:
* Established procurement and strategic sourcing experience, including knowledge of professional purchasing policies and procedures.
* Background in Engineering procurement and experience negotiating NEC contracts.
* Project Management experience is a plus.
* Proven track record in Engineering and Strategic Procurement and Category Management, preferably in an engineering & industrial environment.
* Experience in building mutual relationships with key suppliers and business leaders.
Your key responsibilities:
* Drive and ensure suppliers are held accountable for meeting continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.
* Negotiate new contracts from start to finish directly with suppliers.
* Create a category strategy of 1, 3, and 5 years from spend analysis and specific criteria from the category.
* Support other members of the Procurement team in managing the business’ Procurement functional processes and controls.
* Work with Engineering and Operations to identify and schedule procurement activities.
* Work with Legal to identify which forms of contract to use for specific packages.
* Implement and manage procurement tendering activities, preparing tender documentation and participating in supplier and contractor negotiations.
* Liaise with suppliers and manage relationships.
* Maintain procurement program and progress report for all live projects and provide regular updates.
* Ensure the Company is not exposed to unnecessary or excessive risks or claims as part of the procurement process.
Essential criteria for this role:
* Minimum 4-5 years’ experience as a Procurement professional.
* Experience negotiating new contracts from start to finish directly with suppliers.
* Experience creating a category strategy of 1, 3, and 5 years from spend analysis.
* Ability to manage the full tender process.
* Experience in NEC specific contract & NEC sourcing.
* Procurement experience in an engineering-focused business.
* Ability to work collaboratively and implement strategic sourcing opportunities.
* Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process with a history of achieving YOY savings.
* Mobility & flexibility to travel across UK sites weekly.
