Are you an experienced Civils Design Manager looking for a role where you can stay hands-on while also shaping and growing a team? We have an exciting opportunity for a driven and versatile design leader to join a well-established civil engineering contractor focussing mainly on the renewables sector.
About the Role
This role combines technical delivery with team leadership. You’ll play a key part in producing design outputs while also developing and mentoring a growing in-house team. You’ll work closely with project teams, clients, and external consultants to ensure innovative, cost-effective, and buildable solutions across a range of civil engineering and renewables projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design process across civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance and innovation.
* Be hands-on in developing drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
* Build and mentor a growing internal design team.
* Collaborate with project delivery teams to provide practical and buildable solutions.
* Manage external design consultants and ensure smooth coordination.
* Drive value engineering and efficient design methodologies.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
About You
* Strong technical background in civil engineering design.
* Comfortable producing design outputs, not just managing the process.
* Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
* Experience working in a contractor or consultancy environment.
* Knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
