Support, Educate and Nurture – SENse Education are dedicated to improving the learning journey of young people with additional needs.
We are looking for talented and dedicated SEND support workers who have a passion for helping young people with additional needs. The role is to support either Primary or Secondary aged pupils in the classroom while the teacher delivers creative and dynamic lessons tailored to each pupil's learning needs.
We are looking for support workers who have experience of working with young people or adults with disabilities. You will be able to transfer your skills of support work and support young people in the classroom. You will evaluate the needs of the pupils and offer emotional and physical support to partake in lesson activities.
You will be working with a group of other professionals such as Educators, Healthcare professionals, social workers, and specialist providers such as speech and language therapists and OTs to name a few.
A SEND Support Worker’s day is energetic, with activities tailored to help develop the pupils' independence, motor skills, cognitive skills, and numeracy and literacy. Each pupil will have an EHCP and educational goals for them to achieve throughout the year. You will be involved in Sensory Lessons, Soft play, outdoor activities, swimming, and classroom-based activities. The specialist school also does day trips to local areas and attractions.
You will be working closely with the other classroom support workers and the teacher to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the pupils. The team is supportive and works well together. The school offers fantastic facilities and a modern environment for the pupils.
School hours are 8.30 – 3.30 – Monday to Friday term time. We have a position for a part-time worker and also a full-time worker – part-time can be 2-3 days a week and flexible. Full-time is 5 days a week. The ideal person for the position:
* Has experience as a support worker
* Is passionate about helping young people and offers a consistent and calm approach to supporting them
* Is a great communicator to be able to communicate effectively with pupils and the staffing team
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
* Could have a care or support worker qualification

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do, and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis.
