SEMH Teaching Assistant – Bury St. Edmunds – Immediate Start

Role Overview
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Bury St. Edmunds
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £105 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children with SEMH needs (preferred but not essential)
Be enthusiastic about supporting children with Special Educational Needs
Be patient, resilient, and able to build positive relationships with students
Be confident in managing challenging behaviours and providing emotional support
Have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Be adaptable and willing to learn new strategies to support student development
No Experience? No Problem!
While previous experience working with children with SEMH is preferred, we also welcome applications from individuals with a genuine enthusiasm and commitment to working with children with Special Educational Needs. Full training and support will be provided.
Your Responsibilities
Support students in developing their confidence, social skills, and emotional regulation
Assist in one-to-one and small group interventions to promote positive behaviour and learning
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement support strategies
Help create a safe and structured learning environment where students can thrive
Encourage students to engage in lessons and develop a positive attitude towards learning
