Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the effectiveness of the organisation's Health & Safety system and processes, ensuring that compliance to standards and policies are consistently achieved. The Health and Safety Officer ensures that the manufacturing processes ensure that employees and all other stakeholders are safe at all times. The H&S Officer is responsible for the development of local H&S Policy, training in policy and auditing adherence.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop Health and Safety Policies and procedures
2. Carry out risk, fire risk & workplace assessments in all areas
3. Create method statements
4. COSHH assessment
5. Create 'Safe Working' procedures
6. Internal accident and RIDDOR reporting. Carry out accident investigations if necessary
7. Arrange and attend H & S committee meetings
8. Carry out safety training internally
9. Arrange with external training providers as required
10. Source safety equipment and PPE for site
11. Manage onsite Safety and Fire Systems
Core Competency Requirements:
1. Strong Manufacturing & Warehousing background
2. Understanding of MRP & Just in Time principles
3. Working in or supporting operations in a fast-paced production environment
4. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence teams outside of your direct reporting structure
5. The ability to form and maintain productive, working relationships across the functions
6. Experience in the use & understanding of Lean manufacturing & Six sigma methodologies
7. Experience in the use & understanding of CI & Quality tools
8. Leading practical problem-solving exercises with multi-functional teams
9. The ability to produce, maintain and interpret data using a structured approach
10. Manage projects and/or improvement to conclusion
11. Experience in the use & understanding of Lean manufacturing systems tools and techniques
Required Qualifications:
Health, Safety & Environment Certificate. NEBOSH. Continuous improvement philosophy & culture. Working knowledge of ISO, OHSAS, BS, ROHS & Health & Safety standards.
Preferred Skills:
1. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills. Must present confidently to an audience composed of Sr. Management
2. Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office experience including Excel and PowerPoint. Mid-to-large scale ERP system experience, (SAP a plus).
