Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Gynaecology. We are looking for an experienced nurse who has an interest and passion for Gynaecology and who has a special interest in Post Menopausal Bleeding.
We have secured funding for a twelve month period to implement this post in order to support the Post Menopausal Bleeding pathway within the hospital and ensure that the 28 day faster diagnosis standard target is met and cancer is either diagnosed or excluded for women.
Main duties of the job
In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team the post holder will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and management of adults with Post-Menopausal Bleeding.
The post holder will cross two specialities between the Gynaecology Department Oncology and Cancer services.
The post holder will triage referrals, hold nurse led clinics to assess, investigate, refer to other healthcare professionals as necessary and to follow the Post-Menopausal Bleeding Pathway.
The post holder will follow up patients as required and liaise with the patient’s primary care team to ensure that management is sustained.
Person specification
Education & Qualifications
* Level 1 Registered Nurse / Allied Health Professional
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Knowledge of clinical supervision
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Good problem solving abilities
* Understanding of national guidelines and health legislation (e.g. NICE Guidelines, NSFs, NHS Plan)
* Ability to lead developments in practice
* Good understanding of clinical governance
Experience
* Minimum 3 years post-registration experience
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
