HCSW in a busy haematology Oncology Day Unit
The newly refurbished Haematology and Oncology Day Unit (HODU) at Airedale Hospital opened in October 2022 following a £175K refurbishment.
The unit has seen huge changes including an additional treatment room, upgraded technology in all areas, and 12 pressure-relieving treatment chairs which ensure maximum comfort for patients receiving chemotherapy.
Main duties of the job
* Clinical Observations
* Supporting mealtimes
* Collection of blood products
* Collecting blood samples and medication from the lab/ pharmacy
* Tidying the unit/ monitoring stores
* Assisting in bone marrow clinic

Qualifications
* Willing to work towards Care Certificate
* Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare
* Level 2 Qualification Credit Framework (QCF)
* Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English (Grade 3 / D) or above
Experience
* Previous experience of dealing with the public
* Experience of working in a formal care setting or as an informal carer
Knowledge
* Be able to demonstrate understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality
