Responsibilities:
1. To promote and deliver evidence-based practice in relation to maternal and infant nutrition across NHS Lothian.
2. To assist in the implementation and delivery of the maternal and infant nutrition action plan ensuring collaborative working with a broad range of stakeholders.
3. To assist in the co-ordination, implementation, and review of strategies to ensure healthcare professionals and other stakeholders are adequately trained in infant feeding management.
Post: Infant Feeding Nurse
The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.
The post-holders will work within the Maternal and Infant Nutrition Service which is hosted within Public Health and Health Policy. The Maternal and Infant Nutrition team currently works with frontline staff across Neonatal, Maternity, Family Nursing, and Health Visiting services to enhance their skills and knowledge around infant feeding.
This varied role will include co-facilitating training, auditing staff and families, as well as having a role in supporting projects to improve support to all families as they feed their children. This post will be based within Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but there may be a requirement to work across NHS Lothian sites.
