Job Title: Transport Controller
Location: Speke, Liverpool
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri rotation of 06.00-14.00 and 14.00-22.00
Rate of pay: £14.75 per hour inclusive of shift allowance
Type: Temporary until December 2025
About the Role
Our client, a leader in the automotive logistics sector, is seeking a Transport Controller to deliver dynamic and strategic solutions to day-to-day transport challenges. This role plays a key part in driving operational excellence in a fast-paced, safety-focused, and unionised environment. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, work independently and as part of a team, and produce detailed reports and KPIs for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor performance of core fleet and subcontractor allocation
Track and trace over 500 network trailers
Manage core driver workforce and allocate transport resources efficiently
Route management and real-time system compliance (Microlise & SEB)
Complete system debriefs and ensure accurate administrative follow-up
Capture, review, and report on KPIs
Resolve operational escalations and problem-solve under pressure
Ensure O Licence and fleet compliance, including daily audits
Support driver training plans and vehicle/trailer defect management
Drive continuous improvements through policy updates and adherence
Collaborate with satellite depots, analysts, management, and planning teams
Investigate accidents and maintain high health & safety standards
Oversee agency costs, personnel, and driver-related budgetary control
Build and sustain strong relationships with the end customer
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
Strong background in transport/logistics (automotive experience advantageous)
Knowledge of WTD, tachographs, and telematics systems
Fleet and compliance management experience
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and admin systems
Health and safety-conscious with relevant knowledge
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Confident in high-pressure environments with strong decision-making skills
Team-oriented with effective leadership and collaboration abilities
Analytical and detail-focused when managing reports and KPIs
Strong customer service ethic and a professional, presentable approach
Geographical Knowledge:
Good understanding of the UK motorway network
Education:
Minimum: High school standard
Languages:
Fluent in English, verbal and written
