Job Title: Electrical Appointed Person (Water/Severn Trent needed) Location: Midlands - Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Gloucester, Derby Overall Purpose of The Role To Supervise / Manage the operational resources (people, and physical assets) in order to implement the plan for the assigned project safely, on time and to the required quality while maximising customers' satisfaction and the gross profit. To implement all of Kier Group's policies including those for SHE and risk management. Key Tasks and Accountabilities Providing electrical engineering expertise for industrial projects with particular emphasis on the water recycling industry. Establishing client requirements and delivering the operation of engineering design solutions. Engaging with the Supply Chain and support the contractor delivery and commissioning process. Applying technical judgment and resourcefulness to the construction phase of the project. Providing support to contractors within the electrical discipline as well as ensuring company standards in health & safety, environmental and quality are being met by the supply chain. Cooperate and coordinate with all stakeholders including the client-side, internal and supply chain to ensure the project outcomes are achieved. This would include organising shut down methodology agreed in a timely fashion. Support the implementation and monitoring of Business Assurance Systems (BAS) policies and procedures Ensure all labour, plant, materials and supply chain resources are accurately recorded Support with work relating to financial forecasts and reviews with Commercial Team Escalate where expectations are not met Identify areas of opportunity and improvement Implement and monitor day-to-day activities (Short Interval Control), in line with main programme. Ensure works are delivered in accordance with the specification Management and monitoring of Sub-Contractor performance and delivery Manage DALUX (Quality Handover Portal) to ensure documents mirror what has been delivered on site and are line with the Contract Requirements. Skills Experience and Knowledge Must Have Experience of carrying out Authorised Person duties previously or currently and being trained in the duties. A good knowledge of motor control centres including variable speed 690V and 420V. A good knowledge of control and instrumentation cable installation. Be safety conscience and experience of setting people to work safely. Experience of process impact during construction and the assessment of the impact. The ability to read electrical designs and ensure installations meet approved designs and identify when they don’t. Good interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a multi-discipline team. Management skills (control and management of employees) Looking to improve procedures in the department and implement changes originating from Kier Group A minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 qualified. Fully qualified electrician ECS (JIB) Gold Card holder. Sound knowledge of computer web based portals Experience in supervising electrical installation on capital projects with a minimum 4 day qualification in safety (such as IOSH, SSSTS or SMSTS). CSCS and Or CPCS Card Nice to Have First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Confined Space Training DSEAR Training and good knowledge of electrical installation in ATEX hazardous areas. Previous experience within the Sewage Treatment sector would be desirable Ideally Experience of having worked within a contracting organisation.
