Job Description
While many companies only pay Care Assistants for contact time, we believe you should be paid for every minute you work, so we pay for both travel time and mileage. We also increase your pay for working over the weekend and bank holidays.
On average, travel time equates to 10% of your working time, so put simply, working for a company that doesn't pay travel time means you'll be unpaid for 10% of every working day. On a 6 monthly average our care assistants are earning an average hourly rate of £15.60 per hour.
You will be working alongside other care assistants to assist your customers with daily tasks to enable them to stay at home and support them to be as independent as possible. You will gain experience such as:
1. Effectively communicating with those of different communication needs or from different backgrounds
2. Problem solving and learning how to safely support individuals whilst working in line with legislations, regulations, policies and risk assessment
3. Implementing a good level of nutrition and hydration alongside training in food hygiene standards and infection prevention control
4. Learning about signs of abuse and how to safeguard yourself and your customers and who you would need to report to
5. Understanding whistleblowing should you feel your concerns are not being listened to
6. Safely handling and administering medication and safe disposal
7. Dealing with challenging situations and positive behaviour support as well as learning about autism and learning disabilities
8. Working in a team and communicating with your colleagues as well as lone working

Training

It has an Ofsted Grade 2 Good rating and an overall achievement rate of 71.4%, exceeding the national average of 65.6%. Using a blended approach, learners are always at the forefront of our priorities. All learners are assigned a Personal Tutor who will be their main point of contact.
This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.
This will give you every chance to achieve the highest grade possible! On completion of this 12 month apprenticeship you will have gained; Adult Care Worker – Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Prospects
Possibility of a full time role after the completion of the apprenticeship.
