We have a post for a Clerical Officer supporting our team of host/hostess and retail team along with catering managerial team who work within Catering dept. at Royal Liverpool Hospital, ensuring that we provide an excellent food and patient/customer experience.

Main duties of the job
Support the team with the following:
* Ensuring rosters are covered. Allocation of work to catering assistants. Liaise with management to ensure there is a continuation of service in the event of major staff shortages. Priorities urgent requests. Authorise overtime within the allocated budget.
* Carry out staff appraisals
* To input statistics and information from Records into a database and manage the system.
* To liaise with manager to maintain a quality information system and identifypotential flaws which would affect data.
* To access the database to retrieve information and produce statistics and reportsfor the Trust.
* General reception duties involving first contact with individuals attending the department. Giving necessary information or referring them to the appropriatemember of staff.
* Communicating with all levels of staff in a polite and pleasant manner includingdealing with telephone enquiries and requests and taking appropriate action.
* Send out information to departments on request, but maintain confidentiality.
* Responsible for stock control and ordering stationary as required fromreprographics and stationers.
* Provide clerical and administrative support for staff.
* Organise and retrieve Notes required for the daily appointments.
* To liaise with manager to maintain a quality information system and identifypotential flaws which would affect data.

Job responsibilities
* To provide a localised catering service observing health, safety and hygiene procedures and maintaining high standards in all aspects.
* To deliver good principles of customer care ensuring helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.
* Regeneration of chilled/frozen food and preparation of sauces.
* Preparation of patient meal trays.
* Plating and service of cold and hot food items with meal delivery to patients, including service of condiments.
* Probing and recording food temperatures. Recording of equipment temperatures.
* Beverage service to patients. Washing and refilling of patients water jugs and beakers.
* To take the patient orders and communicate the requirements to the catering department.
* Clearing of meal trays, crockery and cutlery for all food areas.
* Collection, segregation and disposal of catering waste materials.
* Cleaning duties within the kitchen and other associated areas in accordance with departmental cleaning schedules to include equipment, work surfaces crockery and cutlery.
* Ordering and receipt of goods from the main catering production unit in accordance with the agreed stock requirements ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
* Completion of catering department procedural paperwork such as temperature checks and monitoring.
* To undertake training as required to fulfil this role and any further training which will enhance both personal effectiveness and also the delivery of high standards of service.
* To work co-operatively with colleagues as part of the team and perform additional duties as and when directed by the catering supervisor
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous catering experience at a supervisory level
Knowledge
* A general understanding of why food hygiene is important
* Health and safety basic knowledge
* Knowledge of Cash handling and till systems
Skills
* Basic data inputting either manually or using a computer/tablet
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
Other
* Willingness to work flexibly and at other sites when required.
* Ability and willingness to undertake further training as necessary.
Qualifications
* ILM certificate NVQ 3 in catering subject/equivalent
