Location : Uddingston Emtec Building Services, a nationwide contractor with a highly skilled in-house workforce of mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineers and more are actively recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team at our Uddingston head office. In this role you will focus on pre-construction design for significant contracts with our clients in Scotland. The Role As a vital member of the pre-construction team, collaborating with project stakeholders your responsibilities will include: Ensure technical compliance for successful project delivery. Provide technical support during the bid-stage including preparing design information for costing and risk/opportunity review. Draft consultant appointment documents in line with BSRIA BG6 Oversee external design partners to produce the best value, technically robust and specification compliant MEP design. Ensure design compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations Assist with production of design programmes Organise and lead in-house and external design workshops Collaborate with other design team members to ensure a cohesive design delivery. Review MEP consultant’s design information, including Raising RFI’s and TQ’s, and identifying risk and opportunity Engage with the CAD/BIM team for preparation of Stage 5 Construction drawings Assist with developing sub-contractor CDP packages. Provide technical assistance during the procurement stage Conduct technical vetting of the project teams Technical Submissions Assist operations teams with technical issues during construction and post-handover What you will need to succeed Previous experience in mechanical design for medium to large MEP building services projects, acquired from an MEP contractor or design consultancy. A recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services Ability to conduct due diligence of designs, prepare and develop early-stage designs and calculation support costs plans. Strong motivational and leadership skills Passionate about the professional developments of others. Commercial acumen alongside organisational and project management skills Understanding and ability to apply principles of risk and value management.
