We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Ward Assistant to join our Paediatric team in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by changing bed linens, tidying patient areas and clinical areas to ensure the highest levels of infection prevention and control are met.
2. Assist with ordering and meal distribution and collect meal trays after patients have finished eating.
3. Ensure any special dietary requirements are met, ordered and distributed.
4. Stock rotation and ordering to ensure stock levels are maintained and available.
5. Clean and maintain equipment, reporting any faults and ensuring equipment is left ready for use.
6. Collaborate effectively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
7. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.

Job responsibilities
1. Undertaking in-house training on the role and equipment which require replenishment.
2. To collect, clean, decontaminate and prepare equipment following correct procedure.
3. To keep storage areas in good order and report any loss or damage to the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron.
4. Advise the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/ Modern Matron in respect of the overall provision of the service in relation to equipment.
5. Ensure the correct, safe and appropriate use of equipment.
6. Participating in monitoring the quality of service to ensure that customer needs are met.
7. Contributing to the overall tidiness and efficiency of the department.
8. Report to nurse in charge/ward manager at the beginning of each shift to identify priorities for the day.

Qualifications Essential
* Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience Essential
* Working with people within a caring setting.
* Experience of working within a high visibility customer facing environment.
Desirable
* Experience of working in a relevant health or social care setting.
* IT skills.
Skills and Knowledge Essential
* Ability to work using own initiative and without supervision.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Proven skills in organisation.
* Operational understanding of Trust processes and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
