IT Support Engineer
My client is a family-run, growing company which provides monitoring services for alarm, lone worker, and CCTV systems throughout the UK & ROI. Established in 1987, we are a leading UK & ROI independent alarm monitoring centre offering premium monitoring services for installers and their end users.
The successful candidate will be part of a small IT support team responsible for maintaining, supporting, and developing the organisation's diverse IT systems, from user support to system infrastructure and cyber security. You will be tasked with resolving technical issues while collaborating with customers and team members across all departments to support their technical infrastructure. You will need to be self-driven, highly motivated, and have a keen interest in all aspects of IT and technology. A good understanding of monitoring and maintaining a healthy system environment is essential, acting as an advocate to ensure IT best practices are implemented across the organisation.
Position Overview:
* Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance, including customers and installers.
* Install and configure computer systems and hardware.
* Provide ongoing support across the business infrastructure, including servers, switches, and firewalls to ensure system uptime.
* Participate in technical discussions with all departments to drive and improve system efficiency.
* Work with the IT lead to plan and undertake scheduled maintenance and upgrades as required.
* Create and manage user accounts across all applications and provide support and assistance for login issues.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across all areas of the business.
* Maintain and manage software and hardware assets.
* Undertake technical project work as part of continuous system improvements.
* Other reasonable duties as requested by Management, which may include maintenance duties.
Position Requirements:
* Strong technical knowledge across all areas of IT and systems.
* HNC or degree in an associated IT discipline or equivalent experience.
* Analytical critical thinking skills.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills.
* Active Directory and Group Policy – Desirable.
* Hyper-V / VMware – Desirable.
* Knowledge or experience within the Alarm Receiving Centre industry – Desirable.
* Industry standards require all successful applicants to be vetted to BS7858, which includes a police check, financial check, and 5-year work history.
* Full UK driving license and access to a car.
* On-call nights and weekends on a three-weekly rotation.
Position Remuneration:
* Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (4:30pm finish on a Friday).
