Clinical Psychologist Paediatric Neuropsychology 1wte B8A (12 months FTC maternity cover)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Neuropsychology Service for a period of 9 months to provide maternity leave cover for a full-time, Band 8a clinical psychology/neuropsychology position in Paediatric Neurology. Consideration will be given to full time or part time hours. It is essential that the post-holder has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and will be HCPC registered by the time of commencing in post.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist / Neuropsychologist who is interested in expanding their expertise and experience in providing highly specialist therapeutic intervention and neuropsychological assessment to children with neurological conditions.
Main duties of the job
The role supports children and their families referred by the Paediatric Neurology Team, including children with epilepsy and neuromuscular conditions. The post-holder will also be involved in working alongside the multidisciplinary team, in leading psychosocial meetings, and in collaborating with wider neurology networks. They will also offer consultation and training to colleagues and clinical supervision for assistant and trainee clinical psychologists, and/or other staff members, as appropriate. While working autonomously, applicants will be joining an expanding and supportive paediatric neuropsychology team. Appropriate clinical supervision will be provided by clinical psychologists/neuropsychologists within the Paediatric Neuropsychology Service.

Communication and relationship skills
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Skills in providing consultation & supervision to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Commitment to support the Trust's Value.
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies.
* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
* Experience of leading meetings and delivering training.
Analytical and Judgement skills
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
* Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for children with neurological conditions.
* Experience in research, audit and service evaluation.
* Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
Planning and organisation skills
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
* Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations.
* Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
* Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
* Training in the supervision of other psychologists.
* Experience in clinical supervision.
Physical Skills and Other
* Up to date immunisations are required (including TB, HepB).
* Ability to move between a number of locations within the hospital in a working day, and travel to specific locations within the Region.
* Ability to work flexible hours to suit the service and its clients.

Training & Qualifications
* Postgraduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
* HCPC registration.
* Experience in paediatric psychology and neuropsychology.
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Paediatric psychology training courses.
* Neuropsychology training course.
Experience
* Qualified Clinical Psychologist.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
* Experience of working with children.
* Experience of undertaking detailed cognitive assessments.
* Experience of assessing and treating patients with neurological conditions including epilepsy.
* Experience conducting clinical research.
* Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
