Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced Structured Cabling Technicians to support a large-scale network infrastructure project in Oxford. This role involves installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and copper cabling in a data center and office environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Cabinet Installation:
Install & configure Environ Comms Room Cabinets (42U, 47U, 15U)
Set up fan trays, UK socket PDUs, cantilever shelves, cage nuts, and grounding systems
2. Fiber Optic Cabling:
Install (39) 48-core OS2 fiber optic cables
Configure 1U LC Duplex enclosures & terminate fiber strands using LC pigtails
Conduct 3,744 fiber terminations & perform fiber testing
3. Copper Cabling:
Install (21) Cat6A backbone cables & 1U rack-mount Cat6 patch panels
Install and terminate 4,000+ Cat6A FTP cables for data drops, CCTV, WAPs, intercoms, and security systems
4. Grounding & Safety:
Connect cabinets to the Telecommunications Grounding Bus-bar
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards
Requirements:
Minimum 3+ years of experience in structured cabling (fiber & copper)
Hands-on experience with Cat6A FTP & OS2 fiber installations
Knowledge of rack & cabinet installations
Experience using cable testers (Fluke DSX-5000, OTDR) preferred
Understanding of network infrastructure standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)
Must be eligible to work in the UK
Ability to work overtime or weekends if required
