Build Safety Assurance Lead (Safety Case) - Submarines
Full Time (flexible working)
Barrow-In-Furness / Hybrid (3 days a week in office)
An exciting opportunity for a Build Safety Assurance Lead has arisen at the Dreadnought Alliance in Barrow.
In April 2018, the MOD entered into a commercial alliance with key industry partners, BAE Systems and Rolls Royce, via the Dreadnought support systems team, Babcock International, to deliver Dreadnought to support CASD. The MOD owns the design of Dreadnought, as only the Customer can truly accept the performance and safety risks associated with such a complex product and critical national mission.
The Build-Safety Assurance Lead - Barrow-in-Furness will be the focal point for safety case activities at the shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, involving coordination and management of stakeholders within industry and the Submarine Delivery Agency.

What you will be doing
* Advising on technical problem-solving and managing planning to resolve complex engineering issues, defining requirements, and ensuring compliance.
* Delivering successful safety case outcomes during the build phase, using existing processes and driving continual improvement. Conducting investigations and reviews independently.
* Managing safety assurance activities, including design change management, concessions, and maintaining design intent.

* Deep technical experience in safety management within complex engineering programs.
* An engineering background (Mechanical/Marine, Civil, or Naval Architecture).
* Strong stakeholder and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels within MOD and industry partners.
* Ability to assess evidence and make sound engineering judgments on technical risks.
* A Degree in Science or Engineering, or relevant industrial experience.
