Total Care Recruitment urgently requires Band 4 Adult Support Workers for Supported Living in the Lisburn area for temporary, full-time block bookings. Shift work, including day shifts, waking nights, and sleep-in duties, is required. An immediate start is available. Job Purpose The role of a Support Worker is to work as a team member in the running of the service. To undertake duties based on the needs of the service users and their care plan. The role requires partnership working with core staff, service users, and their families. The Support Worker will primarily communicate with each service user by following identified care plan needs using strategies identified by Speech and Language Therapy and the Behaviour Support Team. The Support Worker will provide personal care and manage behaviours of concern when required. Staff within the service are expected at all times to provide a caring service and to treat those with whom they come into contact in a person centred, courteous and respectful manner. The Support Worker will work a shift work rota as part of a 24/7 service to include sleep in duties and unsocial hours. The Support Worker will attend daily handovers & complete shift planning tasks as part of delivery of direct care. The Support Worker will be asked to attend mandatory training, team meetings and supervisions. KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical/Professional/Specific Managerial Responsibilities Provide personal assistance with primary needs i.e. toileting, feeding, bathing, showering. Ensuring safe supervision and direct care support to service users Participate in monitoring and reviewing of service users. Facilitate and enable service users to participate in meaningful activities. To Assist in the development of a high quality person centred service and assist in the development of the service according to the changing needs. Ensure Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Restrictive Practice and or any other assessment tools are adhered to in order to ensure person centred delivery of care Participate in meeting the physical and personal needs of service users. Assisting in the development of health, social and leisure activity /plans for service users. Assist Key Workers in the completion of assessments of service users. Providing written reports as and when required. Assisting service users in gaining access to appropriate professional / voluntary agencies and services. To promote and assist in developing effective communication with families, friends and advocates of the service users. To advocate with and on behalf of service users and assist in developing effective communication with families, friends and advocates of the service users. Essential Criteria 1. Hold a 2-level qualification and have a minimum for 1 years experience, equivalent to 16 hours per week, gained in working directly with families and services users by the closing date for applications, OR 5 GCSEs grade A-C, and 2 years paid experience gained in working directly with families and adolescents by the closing date for applications equivalent to 16 hours per week, during the past 5 years, OR N.V.Q. Level 2 in a subject relevant to working with young people, families and communities, plus 3 years paid experience, equivalent to 16 hours per week, gained in working directly with families and service users by the closing date for applications. Current registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council on the relevant part of the register OR Have current registration with one of the Social Care Registration Bodies in England, Scotland or Wales and is eligible to register with NISCC. In these circumstances applicants must be able to demonstrate at interview they will be in a position to register with NISCC should they be offered a post with the trust by providing evidence of their current registration. Before taking up appointment applicants must have secured Registration with NISCC on the relevant part of the Register. Knowledge of legislation, policy, procedures and current issues in adult safeguarding. Demonstrate an understanding of the current challenges facing venerable adults and families. Ability to work in a computer literate environment. Full MAPA training required.
