Key Responsibilities:
The core purpose of the role of Second in Faculty is focussed on Quality of Education. The Head of Faculty, supported by the Second in Faculty, provides and articulates a clear vision for the working practices and future of the Faculty. They promote, support and develop an environment in which teachers are effective in their work, and students are motivated to learn. In so doing, therefore, the Second in Faculty plays a key role in raising standards of academic achievement, and in enabling students’ personal and social development. The Second in Faculty should be fluid in their approach to the position, and must be prepared to support Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Maths and statistic in Key Stage 4, when required.
This role will focus on the following aspects; this is part of and in addition to the overall job description:
• Supporting the Head of Faculty in delivering and monitoring faculty wide excellence in teaching and learning, and progress.
• Delivery of the curriculum.
• Development in and contribution towards choices of specifications and changes to programmes of study.
• Development, monitoring and reviewing of Schemes of Learning.
• Monitoring the quality of assessment and feedback.
• Preparation of relevant section of the FIP.
• Supporting the Head of Faculty in identifying students with below than expected progress and formulate strategies for them to catch up.
• Conducting student voice meetings to help inform future curriculum changes.
• Providing regular updates to the school newsletter.

A Second in Maths post is available from June 2025 for an appropriately experienced teacher who has the right skills and attributes.
