The primary duties of this position are to receive, store, and issue a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment. You will receive incoming shipments from off-loading areas and check receiving vouchers to ensure quality and quantity of items received. You will assemble items into groups based on information shown on receiving vouchers, segregate materials as necessary, and route along appropriate processing lines, holding materials for inspection according to established procedures, and route items not requiring inspection to proper storage. You will also report overages, shortages, or damaged conditions to the supervisor. Based on your knowledge of warehousing plans, you will select storage locations and store and stack items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and possibility of contamination to or from other items. In addition, you will check the condition of shipping containers and ensure that items are properly loaded or packed, obtain authorized signatures on issue documents, and keep necessary copies of requisitions to account for issues. At the end of the month, you will assist in inventories of stock by counting items in storage areas and ensure that supplies and equipment are safeguarded and secure at all times. You will prepare shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems and secure all storerooms as required while adhering to fire and safety regulations. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training; this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Your hours of work will be between 0800-1600, where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies. You must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds. Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lit. You may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. You may be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Emergency overtime may be required. A valid driver's license (Category B) is required for this position.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; and warehousing functions such as material receiving, storage, issuing, and preservation.
2. Knowledge of warehouse configurations, storage requirements for particular commodities, storage documentation requirements, and inventory procedures.
3. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.
4. Skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems.
5. Ability to screen shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and prepare inventory and production reports.
6. Ability to interpret and apply instructions pertaining to material handling; and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
