Job summary
The NHS Executive are looking to recruit an inspiring and influential Assistant Director of Governance to work with our team on all core governance duties and play a key role in the achievement of the organisation's strategic objectives, and mission to make a difference every day to the health and wellbeing of our communities.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the National Director of Planning, the post holder will provide a broad range of specialist advice and will be responsible for ensuring the business is conducted with probity, accountability and in accordance with appropriate standards and regulations.
The role will be essential in supporting the Senior Leadership Team and Responsible Officer and work closely with the Host Organisation (PHW) and in partnership with all NHS Wales Executive Directorates to champion and embed a culture of high-quality governance planning and management.
You must be a highly influential team player with strong leadership skills to direct your team to success, but also able to work autonomously, whilst providing an outstanding service to the Networks and Planning Directorate and its hosted organisation. You will be a point of contact for corporate governance and legal queries, and regulatory bodies and provide meticulous support, and attention to detail to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the cycle of business.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Educated to masters level or with comparable work experience.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Extensive specialist knowledge and proven experience in leading and managing governance and business-related functions across one or more of the areas of responsibility gained over a significant period of time eg: corporate governance; integrated governance, risk management and assurance, information governance.
* Proficient user of MS Office.
* Evidence of change management experience with proven results in building organisational capability in a challenging environment.

* Possession of a relevant professional qualification linked to the responsibilities of this post.

Essential
* Evidence of working at senior management level, managing and motivating staff.
* Experience and knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance and corporate governance and extensive experience in their application in complex settings.
* Assertive in promoting the application of principles of proper conduct in public office; confident in challenging firmly or escalating to a senior figure, where these principles are undermined by any party.
* Knowledge and experience of information governance assurance mechanisms and risk assurance mechanisms.
