Description Family Support Worker Salary: £23,151.50 per annum (£11,575 per annum pro-rata) Location: Swansea Contract/Hours: Fixed Term until 31 March 2025 with possible extension, Part-time - 18.5 hours per week (worked between the core operational hours of Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00) with flexibility to work outside of these hours as and when required. A bit about the role Our Family Support Worker role assists our Family Support Practitioner team and Service Co-ordinator to help families navigate various challenges by offering practical assistance, emotional support and guidance. Within this role, you’ll provide support with the running of activities and events for families with an overall objective to help them set up home and develop the ability to manage a tenancy, parenting and life skills. You’ll also support with administrative tasks, carrying out functions to assist in their delivery of housing related support to the families. About the service Here at Swansea Young Families Supporting People, we provide housing related support to parents aged between 16 and 25 years old. The project helps vulnerable young parents make a start on living independently as a family. We help them set up home, develop the skills of managing a tenancy, parenting and life skills. The advice and guidance we offer helps young families develop practical skills to manage their tenancy, avoid debt, learn to budget and everything in between. In this role, you really are helping people achieve a safe, stable and secure home and family life. How you'll help to create brighter futures Support Family Support Practitioners in the preparation and facilitation of running activities/small group events for families. Supporting Family Support Practitioners where double manned home visits are deemed necessary. Entering referrals and other data on to databases and Excel spreadsheets. Creating and updating information for digital case files. Photocopying, scanning and uploading information into Project systems and digital case files. Purchasing Project resources and Grant award items online and in retail shops; at times transporting and accompanying service users to choose specific grant shopping may be required. Delivering emergency goods to service user’s homes i.e. food, hygiene & baby parcels, electric/gas tokens. Let's talk about you NVQ2 Health & Social Care or appropriate equivalent qualification or already be working towards this Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach The ability to build relationships at all levels across multiple agencies and partners An understanding of the issues faced by young parents and the ability to engage with them and build trust Experience of working with children, young people and parents/carers in a supportive, non-judgemental trauma informed approach, as well as an awareness of child protection issues and safeguarding. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act Knowledge and skills of using IT processes and systems i.e. Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word etc. Good to know Closing date for applications 12 th December 2024.
