We are currently recruiting for a part-time position for Safeguarding Nurses to join our dynamic team. While the primary location is in Bristol, this role covers Trustwide.
Our Safeguarding Nursing Team, under the guidance of the Strategic Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Adults, provides evidence-based guidance, safeguarding supervision, and training for staff across all Trust sites. The team plays a pivotal role in assisting staff with complex and serious adult and child protection cases.
Safeguarding faces multifaceted challenges that demand specialised knowledge and diverse skill sets. In this role, you will engage in a variety of safeguarding activities, including offering advice and support to frontline practitioners, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in a range of safeguarding meetings. This is a vital role that actively contributes to the development and delivery of safeguarding training programmes.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Clinical:
* Serve as a role model and offer specialized guidance to healthcare professionals on safeguarding matters.
* Foster a culture of best practices throughout the Trust regarding safeguarding.
* Manage the sharing of confidential and highly sensitive information with external agencies, while also handling complex information within the Safeguarding domain.
* Keep the Safeguarding Operational Nursing Leads for Children and Adults informed of current concerns and trends expressed by Trust staff.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with professional standards, such as NMC guidance.
* Empower frontline staff to effectively address safeguarding issues in alignment with best practices, policies, and procedures.
* Play a part in establishing and enhancing efficient communication among multiple agencies and disciplines.
Education and Training:
* Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, research-based safeguarding training across the Trust, catering to a diverse range of disciplines.
* Participate in the assessment and evaluation of safeguarding training programmes across the Trust.
* Collaborate in monitoring staff safeguarding training compliance using an established database, ensuring adherence to national and local training compliance targets.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Registered 1st Level Nurse on the NMC register (Adult or Children)
* Willing to undertake educational activities as required
* Recognised teaching/training qualification
* Safeguarding supervision training/experience
* Evidence of working towards degree level
Knowledge and Experience
* Relevant experience of working with safeguarding cases in a variety of settings involving adults or children's services
* Experience of inter-agency partnership working
* Experience of supporting and supervising staff in a clinical/safeguarding setting
* Experience of attending safeguarding strategies/Best Interest meetings/case discussions/participating in protection plans
* Participation in the development and delivery of quality training programmes
* Direct involvement with quality improvement initiatives
* Experience of undertaking audits
Skills and Abilities
* Strong ability using a variety of Information Technology systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, TEAMS, and other systems to support team activity and data collection and analysis
* Proven communication and influencing skills
* Proven ability with negotiating and collaborating on complex issues
* Abilities with using professional curiosity and professional challenge in managing complex cases
* Skilled with using creative approaches for providing staff supervision and support
* Mobile for travel between office bases/sites
* Commitment to sustain ongoing professional development
