Take a look at the fantastic opening we have within our brand new 3 – 16 school based in Pontypridd.Thank you for expressing an interest in the Alternative Curriculum Lead post at Ysgol Bro Taf; the new 3 – 16 English-medium school based in Pontypridd. The school will open in September 2024 with an £18.5 million investment in the creation of 21st Century learning facilities that reflect our commitment to excellence.
The Alternative Curriculum Lead will deliver intervention programmes aimed at supplying young people with the skills needed for learning and future employment by tackling under achievement, improving skills and raising their aspirations - opening access to appropriate accreditation. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities. They will be responsible for the effective development and implementation of high-quality individual learning plans and for the delivery of positive outcomes for pupil’s whose behaviour is a barrier to their learning.
Our vision is to discover brilliance in every child. We will immerse our pupils in a wide range of opportunities and experiences across different learning contexts inside and outside the classroom. This approach will be central to life at the school. We will also strive to create a happy, safe and secure environment, where children and adults work together to create a culture of support and trust.
Our excellent practitioners and leaders will feel supported to innovate and will challenge the ‘norm’ - pushing the boundaries and not being afraid of doing things differently. Our staff will have a genuine passion for the work that they do; self-motivated, self-disciplined, and driven to succeed and be the best they can be. In return, Ysgol Bro Taf will be an exciting place to work - a place where everyone’s achievements are celebrated, and everyone feels valued for the key contribution they are making to our collective success.
We will create a culture in which openness and an active willingness to share and promote the very best practice are key factors in the drive for improvement in our school. We will be proactive in reaching out to the education community in order to learn from them and share our own expertise. We will also invest heavily in our most valued resource, our staff, and will ensure everyone benefits from a rich and purposeful programme of professional learning to help realise our ambitious vision.
