As a HLTA you will be responsible for:
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is responsible for coordinating and supporting students in the Learning Support Department, ensuring students with SEND make accelerated progress through tailored literacy and numeracy interventions. This includes planning and delivering individual or group sessions, tracking progress, and providing feedback. The HLTA will also supervise students during non-classroom times, manage learning environments and resources, and support teachers by occasionally covering classes during short-term absences. Additionally, the role involves liaising with parents, collaborating with other professionals, contributing to pupil reviews, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health and safety regulations. The HLTA is expected to support curriculum development, use ICT effectively in lessons, and maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
What You’ll Bring to Futura
We are looking for an inspiring Teaching Assistant with:
* 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade C or above.
* Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) standards or qualified teacher status.
* Qualified First Aider.
* Experience working with children and young people.
* Ability to support students independently with minimal supervision.
* Experience contributing to pupil reviews (e.g., PSP, EHC plans).
* Knowledge of child development and learning processes.
* Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
* Ability to supervise groups of students.
* Full working knowledge of relevant national curriculum and learning strategies.
* Strong communication skills with students and adults.
* Ability to use ICT and other technology to support learning effectively.
* Initiative and problem-solving abilities.
* Operates with integrity.
* Committed to continuous professional development and collaborative teamwork.
