Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated team in the Discharge Unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will be supported by both our nursing and medical team and essential training for the role will be provided.
You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and be enthusiastic and passionate about the delivery of high-quality care. As a health care assistant within the team, your role will be assisting our patients with everyday tasks which involve maintaining a good oral intake, assisting with personal hygiene, and escorting patients to various procedures whilst also assisting both our medical and nursing teams deliver treatment.

Qualifications
* Willingness & ability to undertake NVQ Level 2 in care if required
* Basic level of general education
* Excellent command of English – particularly in verbal communication
* NVQ Level 2 in care
Experience
* Experience of working within a team
* Experience of working with people
* Experience as a Healthcare Assistant
Skills
* Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
* Able to present factual information and refer questions to others where appropriate.
* Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
* An understanding of organisation of nursing care
* Basic IT skills in email
* Basic understanding of NHS issues
* Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the health care setting
* Carry out clinical interventions as delegated by a RN as agreed by local protocols.
* Able to perform a wide range of duties
* Ability to perform ECGs
* Ability to undertake venepuncture
* Ability to monitor basic observations (Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Oxygen Saturations etc)
