PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced interim systems engineer to join our team. In this role, you will take the lead in analysing, designing, and implementing solutions that elevate our infrastructure and related technical systems.
Your expertise will be predominantly focused on the third-line support level and above, ensuring the seamless functioning of our technical environment. Additionally, providing mentorship to junior members of the technical team.
KEY TASKS
Advanced systems analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of infrastructure to identify opportunities for enhancement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess feasibility, and propose innovative solutions.
Solution design and implementation: Utilise your extensive technical knowledge to design, develop, and implement advanced solutions that address complex business challenges. Define project scopes, objectives, and success criteria. Architect system enhancements, workflows, and integrations that align with business needs.
Third-line support: Serve as the go-to expert for resolving escalated technical issues and inquiries from the Systems team. Offer advanced troubleshooting and guidance to ensure efficient issue resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
Mentorship and team development: Take an active role in mentoring and guiding junior members of the technical team. Provide technical leadership, share best practices, and facilitate documentation and skills development to foster a high-performing team environment.
Data analysis and insights: Utilise advanced data analysis tools to extract actionable insights from various data sources. Create sophisticated reports, dashboards, and visualisations that inform strategic decisions.
Documentation and training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, solutions, and processes. Provide training to end-users and technical team members to ensure proper utilisation of implemented solutions.
Continuously improve knowledge and understanding across the various software and hardware technologies supported by the team.
Maintain a strong customer focus at all times.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, including Maths and English.
A degree or equivalent qualification in computer science or a related field is desirable.
Skills and experience
Proven track record in technical support and infrastructure enhancement.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven work experience in developing and integrating solutions.
Prior experience within a first or second-line technical product or service focused support role.
Efficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload to meet performance expectations.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
