Wood is recruiting for an Operational Controller to join its Asset Management and Operational Services (AMOS) group within our Clean Energy division based in Glasgow. The role manages the day-to-day work control process across the wind, battery storage and solar portfolio on a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 day a year as part of a shift rotation. The Role This role has the responsibility for ensuring that all operational activities across the portfolio of renewable energy assets are co-ordinated, controlled and monitored to maximise safe and effective operations in accordance with Wood procedures, Wind Turbine Safety Rules and other grid / regulatory requirements. The individual is responsible for real – time energy trading updates and coordinating with the Energy Management operational control desk to maximize output. Further benefits include a generous contributory pension scheme, private medical cover, 4x base salary life insurance; all of these and more that can be adapted to suit your own lifestyle Commitment to continued professional development ; development plans that are tailored to your individual needs and interests Global connections : join experts around the world who are at the leading edge of our industry, shaping the standards of our profession Energy Transition Academy; join a community of experts sharing your knowledge and gaining more exposure to a variety of existing and emerging energy systems – delivered by experts in their field Responsibilities Typical responsibilities: Ensure safe, efficient and compliant operation of the wind, Battery and Solar portfolio Remote re-setting of faults to maximise energy capture across the portfolio Responsible for the Transfer of Control of the Wind Turbine Generator Plant and/or LV Apparatus, under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) Real-time updating of energy trading related IT systems Interface with the Energy Management operational control desk to ensure the optimal output Monitor site SCADA & CCTV systems to ensure that safe operational conditions are maintained In the event of emergency situations, initiation of appropriate response procedures Receive and initiate instructions as required from the Transmission and Distribution Network operators Help to ensure that only competent persons are approved for working on the wind, battery and solar assets Act as emergency contact on all Operational sites in the event of an emergency and initiate the relevant emergency procedure Control work orders for routine and non-routine maintenance work Ensure that training records and medical records for those that are permitted to climb turbines on Energy sites are correct and up to date To assist with other H&S or Operational duties as required Qualifications Skills And Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: Knowledge of electro-mechanical generating plant and apparatus Good organisational and interpersonal skills Strong communication skills Strong knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office packages Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment Ability to work a shift pattern covering both dayshift and nightshift Desirable Knowledge of LV/HV systems and Wind Turbine Safety Rules Health and Safety Qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely) or experience High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work Previous work experience in Operation of renewable energy assets
