About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Commissioning Engineer with a strong civil engineering background to join our team on a major flood defence scheme running through to 2028. This is a high-profile, long-term infrastructure project designed to protect communities, mitigate climate risk, and future-proof critical environments. As Commissioning Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of key civil commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are fully operational, compliant, and ready for handover. You’ll work closely with construction and design teams to drive efficiency and quality throughout the commissioning phase. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate commissioning activities across civil engineering packages Develop detailed commissioning plans and implement testing protocols Interface with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and third parties Ensure all systems meet performance criteria, specifications, and HSE regulations Manage quality documentation, O&M manuals, and handover procedures Support continuous improvement, innovation, and lessons learned across the project lifecycle Requirements: Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field Proven track record in commissioning within large infrastructure or water sector projects Excellent understanding of civil works, drainage systems, and environmental controls Strong interpersonal and communication skills Competent in managing documentation and compliance processes
