The Category Insights Analyst is a key role to drive business understanding of the market to shape direction for business growth through the delivery of analysis and storytelling. The role will interface with several functions within the Highland Spring Group business, liaising directly with sales, marketing, operations, and commercial finance teams. The key to success is building strong internal relationships at all levels of the business. The core objective of the role is translating data into action-oriented insight to deliver a clear story to stakeholders. What to expect: Monthly reporting to key stakeholders to deliver market, category, customer, and brand insight with actionable recommendations Proactively translating data into action-oriented insight to deliver a clear story to stakeholders Collaborate with the Category Controller to ensure the monthly market update to the business is insightful, actionable, and aligned to business objectives Support the Commercial Strategy & Planning Controller with market forecasting, budget build packs for annual planning, and analysis for long-term channel and business planning Provide market analytical direction and support for the Brand team to drive effective marketing campaigns and forecasting Be the day-to-day contact with data providers to ensure they are delivering value for money and market insights to shape Brand, Category, and Sales Work with category teams and Supply Chain to provide guidance that shapes S&OP decision-making Use multiple platforms, datasets, and tools (e.g., Nielsen, Kantar, Dunnhumby, Nectar, etc.) to produce robust marketing insights Advocate for new processes and methodologies to improve the accuracy of insights and be at the forefront of marketing insight Support the delivery of insight & data requests from the Executive Team to ensure they have the latest market data for external meetings (e.g., with journalists, trade events) What we are looking for: Educated to degree level – preferably with a commercial or data focus. Experience in FMCG categories is preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience gained within FMCG with a good insight into and knowledge of what is required to deliver market insight internally. Knowledge, understanding, and experience of using required data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Kantar). Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate large amounts of complex data into compelling category advice, which makes commercial sense for different levels of the business. Good influencing skills with evidence of managing key stakeholders and senior management effectively. Self-assured presentation and communication skills (written and verbal), able to deliver key messages in a clear, concise, and creative way.
