As data protection expert for this diverse organisation, you’ll lead our data protection strategy across the lifecycle of all digital and non-digital records.
As a point of best practice advice, you’ll work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure data usage supports our varied operations in a way that considers security, statutory compliance and risk, as well archival requirements.

Key accountabilities:
1. Lead the development of our strategy, policies and practices for Data Protection in line with changes in regulations, legislation and best practice.
2. As subject matter expert, provide advice, guidance, and leadership to a wide range of stakeholders covering the breadth of our activities.
3. Monitor Data Protection compliance and establish metrics to report to governance boards.
4. Oversee the delivery of subject right requests and assist with the management and investigation of any data related breaches.
5. Have responsibility for engaging with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
6. Line manage the Data Protection Advisor and support their development.
7. Help promote a culture of good data management and engage all employees to understand their role.
About you
Essential Criteria:
1. With a relevant qualification in Data Protection, you’ll have extensive expertise and practitioner experience within a complex organisation.
2. Broad knowledge of management processes, IT delivery, MS 365/SharePoint and information security standards including ISO 27001, with an in-depth understanding of the related legislation and best practice.
3. A natural problem solver, with initiative and pragmatism, you can identify solutions to complex information management issues.
4. Organised and adaptable, you can balance a reactive workload with medium-to-long term projects.
5. With great communication and interpersonal skills, you can build trust and credibility quickly at all levels, and influence decision making.
