Mechanical Project Engineer

1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading Tier 1 M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team on a new pharmaceutical project in Surrey.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring the technical accuracy of project development, overseeing the supply and coordination of all technical documentation, particularly regarding Health and Safety protocols.
2. Take charge of the mechanical services installation for projects.
3. Collaborate with the BIM department to create fully coordinated installation drawings that provide clear guidance for on-site installation or offsite manufacturing processes.
4. Ensure high-quality installations that meet clients' expectations while maximizing profitability through intelligent design choices and early selections, all while upholding standards.
5. Partner with the planner to establish a clear work sequence with defined timelines and resource allocations that are agreed upon with our clients.
6. Foster and maintain professional relationships with customers, design team, the supply chain, and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and presenting issues clearly and persuasively.
7. Contribute as part of a team to promote safety and efficiency by coordinating activities with others.
8. Attend & host team meetings.
9. Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.
10. Review tender information including design drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
11. Deliver the design / working drawings necessary to deliver the project and ensure you capture any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences on their production.
12. Production and technical compliance checking of technical submissions against specifications and ER documents.
13. Production of package scoping documents.
14. Reviewing and compliance checking our working drawings against specifications and ER documents.
15. Develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.
16. Management of procurement. Value engineering (where asked for) and better buying against the tender allowances.
17. Programming of the works and sub-contract packages.
18. Production and management of programmes.
19. Project reporting to PM.
20. Manage installation and commissioning activities of your assigned packages.
21. Handover documentation (record drawings / test and commission).
22. Ensure all variation costs are advised to the PM and QS.
23. Cost control. Liaising with project surveyor to assist the PM with the monthly PFR report.
24. Quality control.
25. Risk control (programme and commercial).
Qualifications/Skills:
1. HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or similar.
2. CSCS/IOSH/SMSTS.
3. Experience of working on M&E pharmaceutical projects, ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.
4. Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
5. Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office.
6. Awareness of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.
7. Active contribution to the team (internal and client team).
