About the Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced, committed, and passionate individual with a strong animal care background and up-to-date knowledge of their industry. They will teach programmes up to level three and a minimum of a level 3 animal care qualification is required.
* Previous experience of working with animals in a professional capacity is preferred.
* Previous teaching experience would be an advantage, but not essential as we can support you in attaining a teaching qualification.
* Previous experience of working with SEND learners would be an advantage, but not essential.
* A passion for education and mentoring are essential and excellent communication skills are a must.
* Candidates are required to have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above (or equivalents).
About the role
We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate animal care Learning Practitioner to join our ambitious team at Sunderland College, Bede campus on a full-time basis. This new role is part of the current expansion of our land-based delivery, which includes animal and equine care. This provision works closely with our land-based campus at Kirkley Hall. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional education and training in the animal care industry and we are looking for someone with current industry experience who will share this passion and impart their knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation of animal care workers and leaders.
As an animal care Learning Practitioner, you will teach students from entry level to level 3 and have the benefit of utilizing campus-based animal rooms, external farm resources, equine facilities, and Kirkley Hall zoo and estates. You will be at the forefront of animal care education, inspiring students to understand ethics and welfare and to think critically and innovatively about the future of the animal care industry.
