We are working hard to ensure that all school aged children have access to Immunisations to protect them from vaccine preventable diseases.
This role is community based supporting the clinical team at immunisation sessions. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills. Be organised and be able to work autonomously as well as part of the team.
The immunisation team administer vaccines in every school in Buckinghamshire and therefore the successful candidate will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car during the day with business insurance
· Preparation of equipment and resources prior to the immunisation session, and transporting them to the school. Setting up & packing away afterwards.
· Attend school based immunisations sessions and support immunisation nurses and young people on the day of the immunisation.
· Liaising with school staff on day of immunisation, ensuring young people are brought down to be vaccinated in a timely way.
· Ensuring that valid consent is received from those young people without consent forms. (Self consent using Frazer Guidelines).
· To be aware of the confidential nature of the work.
· Work within Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Code of Practice and Procedures.
· Liaising with partners to ensure vulnerable and home schooled children are offered their scheduled immunisations.
· Contact parents by phone and SMS/Email for catch Up Sessions.
· Assist nursing staff with catch up clinic and manage young people to be vaccinated in waiting area.
· Ensure stock/equipment levels are maintained and additional stock/equipment is ordered when required.
