Special Education Teacher Hours: 8:30 – 3:30 with PPA time allocated Pay: Minimum of £166.32 per day (As per the National Framework for Wales) Location: Bridgend, Bridgend County Borough Council Qualifications required: Degree with QTS, PGCE with QTS or equivalent for UK Teaching Personnel are delighted to be working with a school in Bridgend which are looking for a Primary Trained Teachers looking to begin or continue their career within Special Education. This would give the school the opportunity to create their own specialist as well as inviting a Qualified Teacher to immerse themselves in the curriculum of Additional Learning Needs. Working within Special Education allows for transferrable skills which are essential when practicing for your QTS. The enthusiasm to engage young learners as well as adapting your teaching style to the needs of the pupils will all be elements of your teaching practice which will transfer with ease. The class sizes for this children will be no larger than 12 pupils to a class, with at least 2 Specialist Support Offices (Teaching Assistants) present to assist you in proving the support needed for every child. Tell me more about the school: The school is situated within Bridgend and supports approximately 200 pupils in one establishment. Ages range from 3 – 19 with a variety of additional learning needs. The needs of the pupils can include Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Complex Medical Needs, Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This list is not exhaustive, however the school really pride themselves on being specialists in their field and supporting every child that walks through their doors with passion, understanding and enthusiasm to learn. It is a role where you will have to be flexible and creative in your approach to achieve the end goal for that day / week / term. You will have a mentor on site which will support you during the transition from mainstream curriculum to special education, so you will feel fully equipped to flourish in your new venture.
