Mortgage Underwriter 18 months Fixed Term ContractHybrid (3 days per week to the office for the first 3 weeks) then remote / ad hoc into the office Manchester region - to £36K salary benefits Introduction: We are delighted to bring to market a Mortgage Underwriting position working for our specialist lending client based in the Northwest. This position sits within a close-knit team of 10 Underwriters and has come about due to the current postholder having been seconded to an IT project for 18 months. The role would suit someone who has worked in a Manual Mortgage Underwriting environment and has had exposure to DIPs (Decisions in Principle) administration and credit file reports analysis. The plan is for this postholder, throughout the length of the contract, to be buddied up with an experienced underwriter and trained to become a fully-fledged Manual Mortgage Underwriter. There is an opportunity for training and possibly career progression in this role Key responsibilities include: Processing Mortgage DIP (Decision in Principle) requests from intermediaries within the SLA. Processing mortgage applications on the software system and completing all procedural administrative documentation efficiently; liaising with the customer during the application process. Maintaining accurate records and notes throughout all stages of the mortgage application. Approving mortgage applications (direct and introduced) within specified limits in accordance with the Lending Policy. Maintaining professional business relationships with BDMs, mortgage introducers and external contacts, providing information and guidance when required. Dealing with customer dissatisfaction and complaints as required. Key Skills & Qualifications Required: Experience of working with DIPs administration and evaluation. Understanding of credit files and reports. Experience of working in a manual mortgage underwriting environment. Strong problem solving, negotiation and decision-making skills.
