What are we looking for
We have an opportunity for a Production Quality Manager, reporting to the Head of Quality. You will be responsible for managing the operational performance of the Quality department to ensure successful delivery of key performance indicators and objectives, whilst complying with regulation and achieving commercial success. You will ensure that processes needed for the Quality Management System are implemented, maintained and continuously improved and will liaise with Heads of Department and other functions to promote a quality culture.
The role will also assume responsibility for the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the production quality with a view to increasing empowerment levels driving business excellence.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and manage quality control systems.
* Lead the quality team in robust data driven problem solving.
* Conduct and oversee product inspections at various stages of production.
* Analyse data to identify areas for improvement in the production quality process.
* Train and manage quality control staff.
* Ensure compliance with local, national and international standards and regulations.
* Maintain and update standard operating procedures.
* Investigate Quality problems and document in technical reports.
* Develop and monitor corrective actions.
* Raise Non-conformance reports (NCR) as required.
* Validate corrective action / 8D reports.
* Identify areas for continuous improvement and drive projects using a DMAIC process.
* Support reporting of quality metrics and using the information to drive actions.
* Prepare reports on quality status to relay to upper management.
* Coordinate with other managers to ensure efficient and effective operations.
* Participate in Quality planning activities with the other site functions.
* Facilitate control items raised to NCR via segregation from good product.
* Participate in the regular Materials Review Boards (defective product) (MRB), Project Reviews, Drawing Reviews.
About You
Knowledge and Experience
* Engineering qualification (HND or Degree) minimum.
* Certification in Quality Management (e.g., PCQI, Six Sigma, ISO) preferred.
* Auditor Training (AS9100 or ISO/TS16949 preferred).
* Clean driving licence.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quality Control Manager in an engineering manufacturing position or similar.
* Experience of working within ISO9001 management systems.
* Ideally Green belt trained.
* Strong knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
* Experience with quality core tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
* Knowledge of Quality planning tools (FMEA, control plans, poke yoke etc).
* Knowledge of problem-solving tools (8D, cause & effect, pareto, PPS, QOS/4panel etc).
* Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
* Experience in the aerospace or automotive industry desirable.
* Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations desirable.
* Familiarity with: ERP (e.g. SAP, Dynamics), Minitab, IQM systems.
* Ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality control software.
