Job summary
This vacancy is being advertised by 'One Wight Health (GP Federation) on behalf of Argyll House GP Surgery. Argyll House Surgery will be the employer for this post.
Hours: 40 per week - Fulltime, but is negotiable
Salary: Dependent on experience
We are seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail. The successful candidate must have exceptional people skills and an interest/background in healthcare experience preferred. Experience using SystmOne is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
To provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Job responsibilities
Administration
* To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
* To work in accordance of written protocols
* Scanning into medical records
* Photocopy as required
* Processing incoming documentation ensuring read codes are added effectively
* Processing referrals and sending to the appropriate teams
* Recall patients for vital screening following surgery protocol
Reception Duties
* Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
* Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
* Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
* Process appointment requests/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with patient visits/requests
* Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
* Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)
Telephone
* Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours
* To answer and make calls and deal with them appropriately, following practice protocol
Other Tasks
* Clear rooms after surgeries
* Ensure building security
* Any other tasks allocated by managers
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience processing medication requests
* Awareness of Data Protection Act and need for confidentiality of information
* Attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals, with the ability to adjust communication style
Desirable
* Experience of reception work
* Experience of working within General Practice
* Experience in working in a customer service environment
Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of education
* GCSE Mathematics C or above
* GCSE English C or above
