Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will provide essential administrative support to Solicitors and assist in the smooth operation of our legal practice. This role requires excellent organisational skills, a strong understanding of legal terminology, and proficiency in various office software.
Duties
* Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence, and reports with precision.
* Manage schedules, including arranging meetings, appointments, and court dates for legal staff.
* Maintain accurate and organised filing systems for both physical and electronic documents.
* Conduct research as required, ensuring all information is up-to-date and relevant.
* Assist with audio typing of legal documents and transcriptions as needed.
* Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties while maintaining confidentiality.
* Handle incoming calls and correspondence, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
* Support the team with administrative tasks such as data entry, document management, and office organisation.
Experience
The successful candidate will possess:
* Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential.
* Strong audio typing skills with attention to detail in transcription work.
* Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Effective time management skills to prioritise workloads under tight deadlines.
* Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures is highly advantageous.
