Ward 303 is a diverse inpatient setting caring for acutely unwell Oncology and haematology patients admitted directly from the Combined Triage Assessment Unit, Medical Assessment Unit, and the Emergency Department. We also take planned admissions for elective treatments such as Radioactive Iodine Treatment, specialised Radiotherapy, Drain insertions, and RIG tube insertions. We also nurse patients who are nearing the end of their life, and those patients requiring complex symptom management.
Applicants must hold a current NMC registration and must be able to evidence demonstrable post-registration experience. Leadership experience would be preferable; however, this will be an ongoing developmental area of the role. Current knowledge and experience of oncology treatments, including the administration of Chemotherapy, is required.
Main duties of the job
Applicants would preferably already be competent in the administration of chemotherapy and trained to triage the acutely unwell oncology patient; however, ongoing training and support will be given.
The successful candidate will be able to deputise for the Senior Sister in their absence. They will be responsible for supporting the overall running of the ward including completing audits, improvement works, staff support, and rostering.
They will be able to build professional working relationships and provide supportive management to the team.
