Job Overview
The post holder will work across Andrology and Embryology to support the Quality Managers and Leadership predominantly with quality-related activities. These activities cover ISO 15189:2022, ISO17043:2023 and the HFEA Code of Practice. The role will also involve a clinical component, within the Andrology Laboratory/Embryology Clean Rooms/Laboratories and quality activities will be divided between both areas of the reproductive medicine laboratories. These hours will approximately be split into 0.4 WTE Andrology Quality, 0.4 Embryology Quality and 0.2 Clinical Andrology. These hours are dependent on the activity pressures within the service and are subject to change. The Quality Assurance Lead will escalate issues to the Laboratory senior team as appropriate.

The role involves support, maintenance and activity of the quality management systems across laboratories alongside clinical andrology activity.

* ISO/IEC 17043:2023 Conformity assessment - General Requirements for the competence of proficiency testing providers
* HFEA Code of Practice
The role is managed and overseen day-to-day by the Andrology Team in conjunction with the Senior Embryologists (Quality).

Person specification
Essential
* Educated to Degree level in a professionally related subject (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate significant equivalent experience gained within governance and assurance within the healthcare setting.
* A HCPC registered healthcare scientist (Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist)
* IBMS Specialist Diploma in Andrology or equivalent level qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience of working with quality management systems.
* Experience of working in a healthcare laboratory or healthcare science setting.
* Ability to undertake data collection, collation and inputting into complex spreadsheets and documents.
* Quality management system activities and how to undertake activities in line with appropriate standards.
* Knowledge of ISO15189:2022 and the HFEA Code of Practice.
* Reproductive Medicine knowledge and understanding.
Desirable
* Quality management related qualification.
* Andrology related qualification.
* Experience of implementing and monitoring ISO15189:2022
* Knowledge of ISO17043:2023.
