Salary and benefits: £60,000 - £69,000 pro rata DOE based on experience, plus 16% bonus up to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role:
The Public Affairs, Long-Term Savings team works with the business to engage Government and policy-makers across a range of policy issues around improving finances in retirement. This involves responding to Government and regulatory policy initiatives as well as working on pro-active policy campaigns such as increasing pensions adequacy and greater consumer support for decision-making at retirement. This role involves working closely with the Head of Public Affairs, Long-term Savings to implement a public affairs programme to raise the profile of the Phoenix Group on long-term savings issues as well as leading on policy development on key policy areas.
In this role you will:
* Work with the Head of Public Affairs, Long-term Savings in the development and implementation of a public affairs programme to raise the profile of the Phoenix Group and its long-term savings policy agenda.
* Take the lead on public affairs activity and policy developments on some key long-term savings issues relevant to Phoenix Group, such as default decumulation and Targeted Support.
* Prepare written briefings to Senior Executives ahead of meetings with external policy-makers.
* Co-ordinate Phoenix Group’s relationship with key trade associations, such as the ABI, to ensure maximum value.
* Provide relevant advice and support to the business on policy and political developments and briefings ahead of meetings with key stakeholders.
* Work with the Head of Public Affairs in developing and maintaining relationships with key Government, Parliamentary and other relevant stakeholders.
* Identify and leverage pro-active engagement opportunities, to promote Phoenix Group and Standard Life with external stakeholders as a leading authoritative voice on long-term savings public policy issues.
* Work with trade associations and other partners to influence external stakeholders.
* Represent the public affairs team in the business and externally on long-term savings issues.
What are we looking for?
* Public Affairs and/or policy experience in financial services from an agency or in-house role, or from a relevant role in Government, ideally with long-term savings experience.
* Strong communicator, able to represent the Group externally at meetings with trade associations, Parliamentarians, civil servants and other stakeholders.
* Excellent written skills, with ability to provide succinct information and briefings on often technical or complex issues to a wide range of audiences, from internal teams to Parliamentarians.
* Strong organisational and project management skills, and record of delivery.
* Experience of stakeholder management and engagement, from liaising with senior internal colleagues as well as external stakeholders in the policy-making arena.
