Tradewind are currently recruiting for a hardworking and experienced Pupil Support Worker to work in a Primary SEMH School in Accrington. The role is starting asap with the potential of going permanent.
We are recruiting for a Pupil Support Worker for a Primary SEMH school within Accrington. The SEMH School in Accrington provides education for Primary age children from EYFS - KS2, they aim to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning so that all children can achieve their academic potential.
Within your role will be working with an ASC class with 5 pupils and the teacher in the afternoon you will be required to do some 1-2-1 intervention work for literacy and numeracy, work will be set by the class teacher.
MAPA training is desirable not essential as training can be provided.
They ensure that they foster and develop the social and emotional well-being of their children as well as concentrating on developing the potential of their staff. Pay starts from £89.89 per day dependent on experience up to £110.89 per day. The school also has a large on site staff parking with close links to the motorway and a bus stop located outside the school.
The school has students with a wide range of with challenging behaviour and Social and Emotional behavioural difficulties and ASD. As a Pupil Support Worker, you will be supporting within class and maybe required to cover a class of no more than 8 pupils. Work will be set by the class teacher, marking won't be required however you will be expected to do a small write up on the class etc.
This school also encourages and healthy and active approach to everyday school life.
As a Pupil Support Worker, you will have the support of a cohesive and committed Support Team and SLT. Plus, the successful Pupil Support Worker you will be provided with a comprehensive induction package and a wide range of CPD opportunities for all staff. You also are offered a lunch within school with no cost.

Essentials:
1. Previous experience working with challenging behaviours
2. Full commitment to the young person
3. Calm in a crisis
4. Good use of de-escalation strategies (you will be asked for an example at interview)
5. This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
6. Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
7. You must have the legal right to work in the UK

8. Experience working within Youth Centres
9. Experience working with venerable young people
10. Familiar with overly sexualised behaviours
11. School based experience
12. MAPA Trained (desirable not essential as training can be provided)
