Our Benefits About The Role We are excited to advertise for an Energy Support Officer to join our committed and high valued staff Energy Team. We are looking for a self motivated and enthusiastic support officer who can meet the challenge of enhancing Hounslow's environment and improving the energy efficiency of the council’s corporate estate. You will be responsible for assisting the Energy Manager and the Project Managers to effectively and efficiently deliver with a particular focus on reporting, supporting project governance and the operational delivery of energy efficiency projects. You must have excellent oral and written communication skills and will provide transactional services associated with utility contracts for billing purposes, billing validation, invoice query management, providing support as and when required. You will demonstrate an understanding of the relevant environmental legislation appropriate to the public sector and the local community and be willing to work as part of a team as well as on your own using your own initiative. About The Team You’ll Be Working In The team is part of the wider Climate Emergency and Environmental Strategy Service that delivers a suite of projects set out in the Climate Emergency Action Plan and other environment related projects and programmes. The Energy Team is responsible commissioning and managing the council’s utility contracts and leading the delivery of a suite of decarbonisations projects to improve the energy efficiency of the corporate estate and school buildings. Reflecting our values and behaviours, we have established an ambitious energy efficiency programme that enables us to achieve our net zero carbon reduction targets by 2030. The Team and wider Service works to ensure change is delivered by working across all departments, with Members, multiple services users, communities, multiple agencies and other stakeholders. Key Responsibilities To work effectively as part of the Council’s Energy team, delivering objectives set out in the Corporate Plan and the Climate Emergency Action Plan. To assist in energy and carbon reporting across an array of statutory, mandatory and voluntary environmental reporting requirements associated with the energy purchasing contract and the Climate Emergency Action Plan. To ensure all relevant performance data is recorded for detailed analysis to support the decision-making process for effective and efficient contract management. To provide transactional services associated with utility contracts for billing purposes, bill validation, invoice query management and providing support as and when required. To manage the administration of relevant tasks and projects relating to the team whilst offering support and guidance. To support the daily management operations of the Energy Team and work flexibly across other departments whilst building effective working relationships with colleagues across the Council and in partner organisations. With the innovation in mind, you may not be able to demonstrate that you have ‘done this before’, so we are looking for an individual who has the capability, understanding and potential to help make our projects a success. You will have excellent communication skills and are able to engage with complex concepts and issues and communicate these clearly and simply. You are highly organised with an attention to detail and are able to support the daily management operations of the energy team and work flexibly across other departments as required. You have excellent IT skills across the core Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, WORD, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc).
