Westlands Unit are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialist Nurse to joint our established multi-disciplinary team. Westlands is an 18 bedded, female treatment unit which offers service users intensive, high quality, person centred interventions, assessment and treatment, utilising a trauma informed model and approach. The successful candidate must be committed, motivated and have an empathetic and understanding approach to the people who access our service. They need to have an appropriate level of self-awareness and the ability to utilise their initiative when working with often complex and challenging situations. The candidate will also be expected to provide senior leadership and supervision to junior staff across the service and therefore would benefit from having a high level of clinical knowledge and experience of offering value based, value recovery-focused interventions that facilitate recovery. The successful candidate will be given regular supervision, guidance and support. There will be opportunities for further development and training. Main duties of the job Westlands is an 18 bedded, female unit providing holistic treatment interventions for people experiencing increased mental health difficulties. As part of the forever adapting role the successful candidate will be required to: Provide and receive routine information requiring reassurance, empathy and de-escalation skills. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when managing individuals with complex needs. To support patients throughout their admission including supporting individuals during their crisis period. To help facilitate therapeutic intervention and distraction techniques for our service users. To work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team. To support the management team in providing clinical and professional leadership to nurses within own area of responsibility. To support the team with the implementation of policy, protocol, service/practice development and change within own area of responsibility. To continue to demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support/advice i.e. service development and the delivery of care, in partnership with service users, carers, staff, managers and other agencies. To support the leadership team in completing AUDITS.
