The Advanced Practitioner role requires an individual with commitment, passion and excellent communication skills. You will be supporting the breast imaging department to carry a range of interventions using stereotactic equipment and supporting specialist imaging. Film reading and completing a range of audits and offering project support will also be a key component. There is also a focus on demonstrating strong leadership skills and being a role model, supporting the development of colleagues and staff in a variety of different training roles. * The Warwickshire, Solihull and Coventry Breast screening service
* Tertiary centre for Coventry and Warwickshire, providing complex specialist services for the region and beyond
* Major Trauma Centre (Level 1)
* All medical specialities including renal transplantation, and a major Oncology Centre (Arden Cancer Centre) are also located on the University Hospital site.
* Clinical base for the University of Warwick Medical School, · To undertake x-ray guided biopsies providing sufficient tissue so that an accurate diagnosis can be obtained of any suspicious area in the breast, according to national occupational standards and local policies and procedures.
· To undertake x-ray guided wire localisations of a high quality to enable the breast surgeon to accurately identify the tumour for removal, according to national occupational standards and local policies and procedures. · To complete all procedures according to the evidenced based practice and departmental protocol · To administer local anaesthetic according to local PGD · To ensure that laboratory specimens are accurately labelled and documented according to local protocol · To demonstrate and communicate empathy and sensitivity in sometimes highly emotive atmospheres; being aware of the needs of the individual woman and be able to communicate effectively with clients/patients who come from different backgrounds, or who may have challenging behaviour, learning or physical disabilities, or who have just been given bad news · Undertake self-audit and participate in research. · To attend and participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings to discuss the further clinical management of clients. · To work flexibly by working occasional unsociable hours to accommodate service requirements
· To adhere to departmental regulations and have a good understanding of IR (ME) R and local rules of practice

The Breast Imaging Unit at UHCW provides a fully integrated screening and symptomatic clinical service. The post holder will be expected to have specialist knowledge in Mammography and will work at an Advanced Practice level. Work will include undertaking symptomatic and screening mammography, performing stereotactic biopsies, vacuum excisions and wire localisations and NHS Breast Screening programme image interpretation. In addition, the post holder will be required to participate in the clinical service delivery undertaking mammography on the static and mobile units and participate in assessment clinics and the symptomatic service. Duties will be undertaken at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, City of Coventry Health Centre, George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton, and on the three mobile Breast Screening Units according to NHSBSP guidelines and Warwickshire, Solihull, and Coventry Breast Screening Service & ISO 9001:2015 standard operating procedures. Duties will be undertaken flexibly in the week and some weekend working will be required. Applicants should be enthusiastic and motivated with a flexible and modern approach to the delivery of breast imaging services, which may include service provision on evenings and weekends. The successful applicant will work closely with the Breast Management team, taking on a proactive leading role, supervising, inspiring and educating a team of clinical staff that includes radiographers, advanced practitioners, mammography practitioners and radiographic assistants.
