About the Position
The Product Support Engineer is responsible for design engineering activities in the base business workflow; for quickly and effectively managing immediate engineering needs from other functions across the business and for continually improving the product portfolio, primarily in operations.
Responsibilities
On a day to day basis your new role will involve:
* Participate in risk management and V&V activities on base business and NPD projects.
* Follow procedures such as Change Control & Design Control in compliance with ISO 13485
* Produce thorough tolerance stack analyses and resolution of conflict therein, working in a systematic, methodical and orderly way.
* Identify need for testing as required. Contribute to testing protocol and evaluation of results.
* Work to continuously improve and develop product as driven by operations and supply chain challenges, Post Marketing Surveillance feedback or other sources
* Apply a good level of design engineering expertise to investigations and development in continuing refinement of the company portfolio, consistently achieving project goals
* Work with the R&D manager to log and track the base business workflow to identify trends and efficiencies. Initiate and generate activity to keep to schedule
* Support the Operations team from a design standpoint with supplier re-sourcing, cost rationalization and manufacturing optimisation.
* Consider cost and manufacturing. Review with Production Engineering and achieve implementation.
* Effectively manage and resolve enquiries across internal company functions and demonstrate an understanding of them, resolving technical related complaints, Non-Conformities and CAPAs
* Monitor and maintain high standards for quality and productivity to focus on internal customer needs and expectations.
* Learn new tasks and demonstrate a rapid understanding of newly presented information. Gather comprehensive information to support decision making
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate the qualifications, experience and skills for the role:
* Competent level of 3D CAD (ideally PTC Creo) to produce engineering drawings to BS 8888 and check others’ drawings
* A good level of mechanical engineering knowledge from a minimum HND or equivalent.
* Take the initiative and responsibility for actions, projects and people interactions
* Quickly adapt to changing circumstances and accept new ideas and change initiatives
* Demonstrate commitment to the organisation by building knowledge on behalf of the company seeking to exceed basic requirements
